Acacia Update: She is improving every day. The bottom of her right lung is still collapsed. She is off the dialysis. She walks more each day. She is incredible. Emotionally she is not doing well. She is off a lot of the pain killers so she is finally facing the difficulty of what she is going through. She is having panic attacks daily. Regardless, she is doing great. Again, thanks for all your great wishes. I even got the great Zarth to wish her good luck.
So today the Red Sox came home and had their parade through town. I have been living in this area for nearly 15 years. I saw the parade live in 2004 and two of the Patriots parades when I worked in Boston. It is nice to see people so happy. However, this is the reason why I never pull for the Sox and the Pats, aside from the fact that I am from New York. During the parade today, there were plenty of "Yankees Suck" and a "A-Rod is a Fag" sign. When the Pats won the SuperBowl for the first time I saw plenty of "Jets Suck" signs. This is the difference between New York and Boston. Boston cannot be happy on their own. They have such a complex that they also must show their class and put down New York. I was at the 86 Mets Parade and there was no "Red Sox Suck" or "Braves Suck" signs. I have seen plenty of mighty Yankees parades and there are no "Boston Sucks" or "Baltimore Sucks" signs. We might be rude and not say "hi!" to you when you are walking down 5th Avenue, but we do not need to put you down to feel superior. We know we are!
By the way, I am still happy the Red Sox won BUT ONLY because of my best friend TinyZombie. She is the only one that could ever make me pull for them.

Re sports: Tribal. Reliant on winning, regardless of skill or style or joy; the final numbers are all that count. Which is why I am not a fan.
That certainty of superiority... yeah, the English still have quite a bit of it. These days it mostly revolves round rugby and immigrants. It's still all about foreigners and class. Silly people
