with all due respect to Karol the man, who lived better than most and was, without a doubt, a good person...
Is popefest nearly over? I find this more frustrating than the orgy of grief and historical revisionism over Reagan.
Look, this guy was head of the world's most powerful institution dedicated to a merciful god's unconditional love. An institution with millions of adherents, billions of dollars, and a huge mindshare of the population. He had an expressed interest in bringing peace to the world and yet... how much of that did he really do? How much did he hinder it through his medieval outlook?
Don't talk to me about peace if you aren't talking about poverty; and don't talk about poverty unless you talk about population; and don't you dare talk population without talking about poverty and disease. For some reason this guy couldn't manage to influence his church to be okay with birth control and protection against STIs in the midst of a population explosion and the plague of our times.
It seems to me that a pope should be able to accept the idea that humans might be immortal souls and mammal bodies.
This time, I hope the office goes to someone more sensible. For the next decade, please let the mouthpiece of one of the world's most powerful imaginary friends be a pragmatist.

I mean, I've been a seasonal "supporter of the Scene" for 3 years and I'm getting sick of Lloyd already. He's a nice guy when you hang out with him after the club scene, but when people sitting on the side are telling you "you think YOU've heard that set already? We've been hearing this collection since 1996!" you wonder why you paid $12.
I like Osaze. He gets the floor packed on Thursday nights in Velvet, deals with requests well and all, but for some reason Lloyd fired him from doing Funhaus without notice.
