Sanguine mentioned something about Chat vs Real Life and it got me thinking...
I have two schools of thought on this.
The First agree's with Sang that the "chatroom" is just a place for people to goof off, shoot the breeze, and even do things/say things that we wouldn't normally do/say without the anonymity that virtual reality affords.
For people that don't want a real connection with someone they are not likely to ever meet in person this is great. It's also particualarly good for those of us that enjoy the nudity expressed by the previously mentioned lovers of being more or less "anonymous"
The Second is an entirely different breed of chat participant, and is largely what I do.. Back in the good ole days of IRCing...I only joined "local" chatrooms. The local community colleges here in Arizona had an inter-college irc room. I chatted with people that were within 60 miles of me, and we even got together for BBQ's, SandVolleyBall games, and the occasional Party. This was LONG before the addition of WebCam's, heck.. you didn't even see online "pics" back then. So talk about being Anonymous!!
Anyways... Today we see both types, mixing it up, and occasionally, being confused why someone doesn't take them seriously/takes them too seriously.
For future reference... I mean what I say and say what I mean.
Thank you for playing,
Tarl.
