So, I haven't updated since August. Oops. The re cap?
I worked for the NDP during the federal election. The candidate I was working for lost.
I decided to stoop and work for Wal Mart only to get a job as the Assistant to the Treaty Implementation Committees for the Huu-ay-aht First Nations one week later. I tried working both for a while, for nearly 3 months. Wal Mart isn't worth the extra cash.
After quitting Wal Mart I spent a wonderful weekend at a wedding and a community dinner and the caught a plane to Mexico.
My mom had decided that since all 6 of us kids were over 19, had good jobs and none of us had kids or were married that this may be the last year we could all get together for a vacation with out kids or spouses. She planned our vacation at an all inclusive just north of Playa Del Carmen. The guilt of staying at an all inclusive quickly faded with my first mango daiquiri.
3 most memorable moments of the trip
1)My first swim in the Gulf of Mexico. The water is WAY saltier than up here on the Pacific west coast.
2)The sailing trip to the Isla Mudjeres. I've never seen water that colour before
3) Hiking through the ancient city of Coba. It was breathtaking. I'm an anthropologist but this was the first real ancient architecture I'd ever seen my whole life
Christmas was a whirl of visits, turkey and wrapping paper.
reprisal and I managed 4 houses in 1 1/2 days.
January was back to work, no skipping a beat, biggest meeting of the month was the day after we get back. It never ends. Right now I'm planning consultation meetings 4 days in a row, in 4 different cities. I'm looking forward to the travel and time away from the office. And time away from the co worker who keeps re doing my work and re sending it to the team. Worst part? She's not even in the office. She's contract. She has me stressed and hating my job from half a province away.
So, one of my many resolutions is to stop letting her disrespect and distrust get to me so much and focus on the committees that do require my assistance.
Other resolutions - Mental Health, Physical Health, and Relationship Health
Choosing them is easy. Coming up with tangible, realistic steps to get there? Still working on it.
It'd be easier if Nana was still here. She was such an amazing woman, trust her to go out with a bang. She passed away around 4:30pm on New Years Day. Too amazing to be tacked on to the end of a re cap post. She''l get her own, another day...
