Wrote this a while ago. Had it posted on my myspace but I thought I'd show you guys too...
"There she is!" She looks excited as she points to the girl's body floating face down. "I think she's dead."
I let out a sigh. "I guess that's another one then."
We found girls like this before, fading in and out of the notes. From afar she looked like just another one of their victims, but this one seemed different. She had given herself up. It didn't look like she had tried to run, or fight.
"Come on! I want to know her name!" Tanya shouted as she pulled me across the pathway.
"Shhh!" I snapped back, "you shouldn't be in such a hurry for moments like these. Be too eager to seek out these angels and you too will give up your soul. They'll snatch it from you and you won't even notice."
Tanya gazed up at me as though she had lost her heart in a bucket of sand. I didn't like to snap at her like that, she's just so fragile. I have seen her fate.
We continue to examine the girl's body. I couldn't help but notice the star tattooed on the back on her left hand, just small, about the size of a 5 cent piece. It was the only marking she had, most of these girls where covered from top to bottom in symbols & lyrics. She was only young, about 18. Her hair had already started to fade from the sun.
I reached out across the lake and lay her in the mud amongst the violets. So beautiful, you would have to been an owner of a stone heart to take this life.
"Selected!"
I jumped; I had almost forgotten my place. "What did you say?"
"Selected" Tanya whispered "that is her name."
