Finally!
The metalheads of Denmark has been heard by The Danish Broadcasting Corporation (the danish version of UK's BBC)
For ages we've been trying to get a programme on one of the 4 public service channels available in Denmark, but every single time we've been told that even a song by Metallica scares off more than 50.000 listeners.
Finally an open invitation was issued by the head of music for metalheads to attend a workshop to try to figure out what could be done, as they had finally realized that we pay the same amount of money as everyone else, and gets absolutely nothing in return. 200 applications to attend arrived and 15 people was picked out.
Workshop #2 has just been completed and we've been promised a few hours every week on a DAB channel (Digital version of the old FM), and on the side we'll get a 24/7 online metal only radio which will feature the metal programme on an on demand basis.
The programme and the online radio will feature all genres on an equal basis, which is pretty sweet for people like me who pretty much dislikes putting bands into genre boxes.
I can't even describe the sheer awesomeness of this.
And I don't even care if you could just as well use this post as toiletpaper because you don't live in Denmark. This is just an amazing step forward for danish metal and specially the danish bands, who've never been played on the air before.
