As one of my New Year's resolutions is to update this journal more often, I thought what better way than to write a fresh entry ( the first one in months, as it turns out).
So 2010...I don't even usually make specific resolutions, but I may have some areas for self-improvement if I am completely honest with myself.
A good resolution might have been to quit smoking, BUT, it seems I have already achieved that! Yeah, a little over two months ago, I just got fed up with 1) how winded and shitty I felt all the time, and 2) the fact that I was paying more than eight fucking dollars for a pack of cigarettes! So I essentially just stopped buying them. I won't say it's been easy, or that I don't really, really crave a cigarette at times. But I feel like I have finally conquered the smoking demon this time, and I'm pretty happy about that.
Now that I am a non-smoker, I want to get back into running. It's something I used to do (even while a smoker) and have really been a slacker about. One thing I've noticed this holiday season that bothers me is that indulging in all those awesome holiday foods is starting to have an effect on my body. I'm a skinny guy, and typically don't worry about my weight, but I don't think I have quite the same super-metabolism I used to, and I really don't like looking anything but firm/toned/in-shape. Therefore, I conclude, I should run.
The biggest obstacle in starting my running program would be that it's cold, snowy, and generally shitty outside. So another resolution might be to stop being such a f***ing wimp and run anyway. I resolve to be more hardcore in general!
So there you have it: a seemingly short, simple, and very achievable list of New Year's resolutions...
- Blog more frequently
- Continue not to smoke
- Start running again
- Stop being such a damned pussy.
Easy, right? Wish me luck!
What resolutions have any of you made?
Oh, Happy 2010!
