Like a lot of people nowadays, I haven't been able to find anyone who I felt compatible with in my area, so I turned to online dating. Now, one of my positive features (in my mind, and from what my friends say) is my truthfulness. Now, I'm not talking about being a blunt asshole who just gives his opinion whether it is asked for or not; no, I mean that I don't hide things. I am open about how I am divorced, I'm 41, I have 3 kids, I get along great with their mom, I am working on getting my novel published but at the moment I am unemployed, I despise hunting, fishing and camping, I am not into sports, I'm a major geek, I'm pagan, a liberal, and a feminist. I just put it all out there, so that way there is never anything that can be a "Oh, I didn't know about (fill in the blank) when we started dating, and that's just too much for me" moment. Yet, I can't seem to find someone who I find attractive (and vice versa) or to get the same level of honesty. Oh, sure, I can get the standard "if you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best" lines, yet they always take that to mean they can be a rude jerk and expect someone to take their shit. I don't know, I'm telling you, when friends ask me if I can see myself being single for the rest of my life and I say yes, it is because of things like this. :/
