Today was one of those days where I was struggling to stay awake at work, only 2 hours into my day. I don't know why I'm feeling so tired at the moment. I mean, I've taken on a lot of freelance work this week, as well as my full-time design job, so I might be overdoing it a bit. And maybe I'm playing a bit too much Arkham City, but it's awesome, so I'm letting that slide. But when I'm tired, and work is dull, my mind switches off. If I'm not doing something that really pushes me creatively, my brain doesn't want to know. Today was DEFINITELY one of those days.
The music in our studio is pretty crap. Everyone adds what they like to a Spotify playlist, and it gets played on shuffle, with the view that everyone gets to hear something of theirs. It doesn't work. I swear, if I have to hear Kings of Leon, U2, Daughtry or Bruno Mars one more time, I'm going to go Postal. I have tried to over compensate for this by adding more of the stuff I like, be it Midwest Emo, Post-Rock, Folk and the likes, but it still doesn't seem to be working. Which is even more annoying, as no one else seems to change or add new stuff to it. Hence the fact we've been listening to the same Kings of Leon songs on repeat for 4+ months now. Woe is me, etc!
Anyway, I'm going off the point. In the 9 months I've been in this job I've refrained from being anti social, and put up with the music. Today I snapped. To combat my tiredness, and lack of motivation, I needed to be pumped, and there was only one band for it: GIVE. UP. THE. GHOST.
So, I stick on We're Down Til We're Underground, and I'm in my element. I hadn't listened to it for ages, and was loving it. I had to tweet about it, because I tweet about almost every menial and insignificant thing going on in my day (@scrtlyswdsh). A few hours later, and someone else mentions GUTG. And another. AND ANOTHER. A search later and I come across this: http://deathwishinc.com/news/#652
"HOLY SHIT!" I think. And within minutes I'm praying for some shows over here. The chances are slim, and if I hadn't booked tickers to NYC just the other week, I'd have jumped on those Boston tickets. Oh well, here's hoping. I mean, the only time I had tickets to see GUTG was for a show they were due to play 24 hours after they split. I was heart broken. You can understand why I'd love for them to come over and do a show.
"And in a world of sluts we keep the wet dream alive." Let's keep this alive long enough for me to see them live, ok?!
TUNE!

As for NYC, yep, I'm going back for another holiday in February. Completely fell in love with it this year, and couldn't wait to get back. Although, even it it was work I'd be happy to be back there.
