also, on friday (the 13th, but don't you think it's connected) i return to my parked car to find that a young, distracted driver has rammed my car, causing $2755.34 worth of damage. niiiice.
she did, however, leave her phone number for contact, along with the rather snarky statement that she hit my car because it was parked behind her. not, say, because she put her car in gear, stomped on the gas pedal and proceeded to reverse at a great rate of speed without looking, or perhaps because she was late to class and forgetting basic driving skills because she didn't want everyone to look at her as she slunk into her seat in the lecture hall, or because she is an abysmally poor driver, but because i had the poor judgment to park in the parking space behind her parking space.
clearly, fault is a matter of perspective.
anyhoo, nobody was hurt, and her insurance will cover the damage. but in the meantime my poor beemer is all smacked up.
my favorite part, though, was when she texted me that 'she just can't deal with this right now' and 'we'll just have to wait until her dad gets back into town', and 'you can call the police if you have to'.
i know where you live, where you park, what you drive, and have written admittance from you that you hit my car. the police really don't even need that much info to go after you, really not the wisest thing to claim responsibility and then clearly say you refuse to pay for the damage...but i'll say she's consistent in decision making...
all is going smoothly and in accordance with new york law at this point, but i'm reeeely tired of the smashed up car.
