Well, we're well into 2008 now and things are going pretty well so far. In the last week or so especially things have been pretty good and my mood has shifted from it's default setting of 'content' to 'happy'.

I've decided that I really need a hobby of some sort to keep me occupied and entertained. The hard part is deciding which hobby to pick....

Unfortunately, I'm not going to write an epic blog because, to be perfectly honest, up until the last two months my year had been getting progressively worse. The last two months, and especially the last three weeks have turned things around enough that I'm prepared to look at the new year with, for the first time, a positive attitude and the realisation that I am...

Uh-huh.

I hear you on the exploring front! I'm heading out there and I'm not taking a compass. Just me, a bottle of water and a camera.

Then... I'm assuming I'll either get lost, hurt or have the time of my life! Perhaps a combination?!

Bring on 2008.

Ikeeeeeeea!!!

I went to Ikea for the second time ever today and this time I even bought stuff. I moved to Brisbane with practically nothing except myself and a suitcase and had things *everywhere*. Well, today that's a least a little solved. I have a proper mattress now and a clothes rack plus a few little bits and pieces. A screwdriver (*not* supplied) and three...

For that life of me I can't put that ikea stuff together confused
I'll ask you again who was the other SG you met
s_eldorado:
Ah yes, the mighty gods of ikea bless us with their contrivances of conventional convenience. Swedish. For common sense.

Just did a hefty shop there myself. The part of my brain that assembles furniture is now on vacation until further notice.

Happy 2008 man!

Christmas day was all kinds of awesome!!! I met a whole bunch of great people and the day was just perfect with lots of food (*lots*) and copious amounts of alcohol including soy nog which was strong but good and very filling. And I got to meet another SG, too.

The other SG was Malloreigh. She's really nice and *really* smart, gotta appreciate that.

Working on Xmas day?! I thought I had it bad having to work the day before Xmas.

It's funny how much things can affect you sometimes, especially when you're already feeling a bit low. Take today for example, between discussing some issues with a friend from Bundaberg, and realising that she's right, and the content of an email from my Nan I feel completely drained, and miserable.

Hopefully tomorrows crowds will provide a chance to forget things for a while at least...

Oh yeah, and re: your blog - emotional journeys are so often far more tiring that physical ones. They're very often worth the trouble though.
Did I mention that my uni degree features psychology, sociology and cultural studies? Please, feel free to offload onto me you thought cannon fodder. I have all the solutions, I swear smile

I think it's about that time of year to drag out my favourite Christmas movie - Die Hard. Not only is it set at Christmas but it includes Christmas music and an exploding building! How much more festive can you get?!

Ugh, not enough gin to wake up chatty Richard damnit!

So, the current top candidate for tattoo number one is a pixelated Mario (think red and blue Mario from SMB3) on my inner forearm.

The thought for a potential second (and maybe even geekier tattoo) is the 'one ring' quote from Lord of the Rings:

"One ring to rule them all
one ring to find...

Gin and Futurama after a weird day of getting lost while travelling for work, I don't think I could be any more relaxed. And from the sound of falling pans, dinner is nearly ready!

Todays lesson: Perrier mineral water may have been founded my Napoleon but it still tastes like water.
