right i know im a lazy fucker and i dont post on here nearly half as much as i should, but i've been rather busy. most importantly going to see iron maiden in concert recently. Hehe and here is the review i did for it.
For a band that have been going as long as they have they seem to have only gotten better and better, a fact which Bruce Dickinson was proud to mention during the gig too. They still haven't lost any of their live energy opening up with "aces high" and then going pretty much straight into "2 minutes to midnight" with everyone in the whole crowd(well over 100,000 at my guess) chanting the chorus with raised fists...(I got shivers up my spine at this) after this came revelations, but one of the highlights for me was when the backdrop changed in about 2 seconds and they plated "the trooper" possibly one of my favourite maiden songs. Just pure class! The next song after "wasted years" was another personal favourite because they ripped into "the number of the beast" OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! Again with the chanting I was screaming myself horse to pretty much every lyric of that song! And it contained another backdrop change, this time to pure black, with 2 red glowing smoking devils at either corner of the background of the stage, amazing! The there was "run to the hills" well you can guess how this went down im sure.yes your right, more chanting of a well known chorus with fists in the air and im sure some tears of pure joy flowing out of some elated fans! After some chit chat from the main man, came "Rime of the ancient mariner", in all its 13 minute wonder. so very very good! haha Then came some steaming renditions of "powerslave" and "heaven can wait" followed by "can i play with madness" now if there was chanting before this, then after much more beer had been drunk, this singing and chanting was of epic proportions! i think i was so happy with the gig by now i could have died oh so very happy! but wait! they then played "fear of the dark".... jesus it couldn't actually get much better by this point for me! haha fucking legendary! they finished the set with "iron maiden"
everyone knew it should have been the end by now but we all chanted for them to come back so we were treated to a 3 song encore consisting of "the moonchild", "the clairvoyant" and "hallowed be thy name" It was during this encore that eddie made his walk out onto the stage to grace us with his presence. was another highlight of the night which sent a lot of people over the edge.
So all in all i think it was a resounding success of a gig for the Maiden, and they finished off the night by letting us know that next year there will be a full studio album and a tour to accompany it.
I know im going.....anyone fancy it?
