someone suggested that i should start making journal entries. so, here it goes:
i officially have 5 more days in the US army. on friday ill be packing my things up for the long drive back to california. alaska has been my home for the last 3+ years and there are certain things im gonna miss about it, but not enough to stay. the summers, for instance, are fucking awsome! 24 hour daylight and it stays between 60 and 80 for about 3 months. im sure ill come back here some summer in the future.
its so crazy to me the lifestyle change im about to encounter. ive been pretty comfortable in my life for the last few years in the army. as much as it sucks, you always know there will be a paycheck there twice a month. but, the downsides definately outweigh the ups.
anything else? no. ok, bye.

what prompted the leave from the army? was it a concious decision, or was your time just up? either way, good luck in the future. i imagine it would be real strange going back to normal night/day cycles after living in alaska for that long?

yes, my time is just up. i signed up for 4 years and while i have the option to stay in for longer i would rather get out and use the college money.
