OK, so that last journal entry was some serious bitterness.
Just pissed at the world latley.
I suppose I'm just dissointed waaaaay too easily.
But I REFUSE to lower my standards, dammit!
I feel they are a MINIMUM criteria for basic decency.
Whatever.
But, I mostly retract my previous statement.
I say "mostly" because, well, hell, you need to retain some bitterness and apprehension.
Keeps you from getting too trusting, soft and naive.
But the bitterness has dissipated.
Heading to Pittsburgh for a week helps.
So does starting my third novel (which is turning out much better than I expected).
So does Motley Crue coming to St. Louis.
And the annoucement of the MERCHANT OF VENICE dvd and the new Six Feet Under album.
All are things that make me happy and so the bitterness is reduced.
Gonna rewatch SAW tonight and see if I'm still hella dissapointed with it in the way I was when I saw it in theaters last Halloween. Hopefully, with my expectations gauged differently things will turn out better. Hey, it worked for BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF and Greg Widen's THE PROPHECY. I was dissapointed with those movies for a while and then I rewatched them with a different eye and now they're two of my all-time favorites!
We'll see.
