a bite at rain-
drops as eye
candy crosses
against the light
bagful of cds
holstered on
her right hip
hey nineteen
where did you

ignores the call

Waiting to hear from the agent, trying to sell reprint rights to the first book. Its at Vintage/Black Lizard, getting a serious reading because I have friend who knows somebody. Am on pins and needles. Agent emailed yesterday asking about revisions for the second book (not done) and progress on number three (I only like the first two chapters, after that it sucks) so of...

Wrote all day today & now I'm too tired to say much here. Have been reading other's journals and liking them. Lots of smart people out there.

One of the small presses that publishes my poems just started a website. Looked to see what they said about me. Said that I was "once the king of bay area poetry gossip" but that I had faded...

cool. i'll check it out!

...i guess this book and all of it's images-n-stuff and the fact that it was letters written without the intention of makiing it a book makes it challenging. i'm not complaining. really, i'm not!

the sun is visible today. i can't even believe it!

My 87 Tercel is in great shape, only a hundred thousand miles and new almost everything, but it does have trouble with the bay area hills. Coming out of the tunnel on 24, leaving Berkeley, heading toward the suburbs, I was losing speed and the SUVs were losing patience. I shifted it down into second and wagged my middle finger. My best friend, Marvin, says...

aske:
Sir I must say, as a fellow bay area POS driver, bravo, bravo. The suburbanite roadway battlecry, a gentle blast of the horn and wave of the cell, is, unfortunately, most often not reprimanded appropriately. Just a couple weeks ago, a close friend of mine was literally, run off the road and into a parked car by a woman in an SUV on her cell phone who decided to merge into my friend's lane regardless of her presence in said lane. My friend got a $100 worth of damage to her POS and a pulled muscle in her neck that causes her to buckle over in pain, and the gaseating bitch got the lane. So, I applaud your roadway warrior prowess, and pledge to help fight the good fight.

25+ miles to the gallon or death!!

Four days away from the day job. Nice stopping off point. See some friends tonight, movie tomorrow. Sit and watch the rain.

Been running around like crazy, working retail and trying to make the app deadline for a yaddo residency next fall. Hope they take me. Would give me a month to just write. Im behind on this novel and my (so far pretty useless)...

I got my name from the poet you mentioned, Theodore Roethke. I've read his work for years and I decided to use his name when I applied to become an SG. I didn't think very far in advance, however, and failed to realize that everyone I would come across in real life from SG would not fail to mispronounce the name.

Happy and relieved that the reading went well. Store was full of people. I knew about half of them. New stuff came off really well. Everybody laughed in the right places.

Book Zoo is a great little bookstore. Evrybody in the bay area should go there & help them stay in business.
littleredwriter:
aw shucks.
thanks mister.
how will you bring in 2005?

Celebrating my birthday by taking it easy. The greek artist took me to Mama's Royale for breakfast. Meeting friends at Trader Vic's in Emeryville (great place for mai tais, food too expensive) for drinks. Mostly resting & not writing except for this.

Reading Tuesday night at Book Zoo. That'll be my belated b'day party.
littleredwriter:

We were living in the Chandler Apartments.

I had been secretly (well, not so secretly) lusting after her for months but nothing was going to happen. Too many complications. I was close to her brother, wed shared too many lovers (although never on the same night) and she was, as she said, otherwise engaged. I quickly fell into the gay best friend role, even thought...

Decided to take some time off from writing fiction and doodle on this journal. Does anybody read these things?
