New Wallace set! I have been waiting for it for a long time. I hope I get to check it out sometime.
We heard a lot about the protests toda aginst the President today, but nothing about the fantastic job he did. While I have been very critical of Bush's domestic policy, his strong forign policy is a credit to the US. India has never signed the Non Proliferation Treaty, but, with the treaty they signed today, they essentially must comply with it. Most of thier nuclear facilities are now open for inspection.
In allowing India to build nuclear power facilties and quiping them with US and european thechnology, India decreases thier need for oil. Further, it fosters closer trade relations with one of the world's largest markets.
Now, since we have allowed India thier atomic ambitions, does that mean we must allow Iran and North Korea theirs? No, not at all. Hypocritical? Again, no. India is a stable democracy, Iran and North Korea are not. If those nations abandon their dictatorships, then perhaps we can work with them
In our current war against the extreaminst in the religion of peace, something has been forgotten.
China.
Reagan propped China up as a bulwark against the greater threat, the Soviet Union. Now, china is the greatest threat. Yeah. Islamists are bad, but China has threatened a nuclear attack. amd they have the capability to hit our west coast. If they have to worry about India, and now they do, they need to protect two fronts. India also has a larger army.
So, if Chinas is removed as a threat, does that mean that India will become the threat? No. Again, India is a stable deomcracy. That is the kind of nation we can work with.
Great job, Mr. President.
