So, at the diner I work at we have CNN on 24/7....And today I saw something that truly disturbed me and seemd to illustrate my fears about where we are headed as a nation:
A man walked up to the capitol building dressed in black carrying 2 suitcases, which was seen as suspicious. The Swat Team promptly moved in, and while he stood there motionless, he was tackled from behind with such force that his head looked as if it would buckle at the neck. The men armed with automatic weapons, and also dressed in total black garb then proceeded to pick him up, one man for each arm, and drag him swiftly with his legs trailing behind him. It was surreal...I felt that I was watching some horrible footage of someone being detained in a police-state; in a country that was so aggressive that they leap at the first hint of a threat, cutting it at the knees and carrying it off with an aire of violence and extreme predjudice. I don't know if this was staged to encourage our new culture of fear, but even if it was, I got incredibly angry and had to take some deep breaths before serving my next guest at the counter. What the hell is happening out there...
