Holy moly, life is busy again!
A week ago on Tuesday, Lisa and I decided it would be fun to skip her day at school, since her supervisor was away. We chose a trip to Grand Bend, since I have never seen her in a bikini! Got ourselves a ball and sand toys at the dollar store, and made the 90 minute trek out to the almost coast - all of the vanishing horizons, without any of the salt water on your lips!
Despite constant reapplication, we got ourselves burned. Note: the tops of your feet are painful places to get burnt! Still, making out in the water was fun, as is tossing my girl around in ways that non reinforced beds just won't allow. Had some fun with seagulls, considering their two attitudes. One would guard Lisa and I as we sunbathed and ate our picnic, giving us space, but chasing away any other gull that approached. Maybe he wanted the human-harassment-free zone for himself? Then later, in the water, gulls were descending like Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds toward two guys waving green and yellow inflatable inner tubes, and they'd occasionally punt Lisa and I's ball out of midair, making it hard to catch.
Also enjoyed the strip, with rousing round of mini putt where I won thanks to the launch ramp holes.
This past weekend, we drove to Quebec to spend the holiday with my parents at the cottage. A lake with a 6hp limit on boats and a ban against all ATVs, dirtbikes, and the like, it sure does lead to a relaxing environment. We'd watch finches, doves, blue jays, and humming birds at the feeders while sipping coffee and reading in the morning, enjoyed swimming around in our bay and on the floating raft and nearby little pint of an island - my mother and I would later race the kilometer swim to a larger island.
Lisa and I also managed to fit both our bikes, slightly disassembled, into the car, allowing us a chance to make the awesome, if tiring, bike on down the sneak exit path from the cottage road, 300 vertical feet covered in just a kilometer of ups and downs in gravel, followed by a series of hills on the road to the midget town of Poltimore, and their amazing store where you can buy anything from beer and chips, on up through guns and fireplaces, and up to lumber, boats, and fully assembled cottages. Well worth the trip, even at the ribbing I always go through at my dad's hands.
Now? Now I have managed to get my old engineering job back, starting in two weeks! REAL PAY CHEQUES HO!!! No more graveyard shifting, and only a minimum of Marble Slabbing, for all the experience it will grant me should I choose to venture into the consumer world one day.
What could be a better time to celebrate one year with Lisa? We'll be recreating our first date tonight, after my shift at the Slab.

Glad you had a great time at Grand Bend
