Sad how one person can ruin a perfectly excellent evening. Eleven of us from work (two managers and the rest of us service coordinators and kitchen supervisors) went out to eat on the owner's nickel as a gift for our hard work and whatnot. It was a blast until one of the supervisors (we're all kinda like lower management) went off schizo style. He was drunk and who knows what else he was on but there's no excuse for it. Out of nowhere he started acting like none of us think he's any good at his job (he's one of our best workers) and started swearing and just going off. I can't do it justice. He snapped at one of the coordinators (the one I happen to be most friendly with) and almost made her cry. He stormed out once, came back all quiet, and then erupted again in a tirade which concluded with him throwing down his to-go box of pork chops and stomping out again. He said he was quitting, which I'm sure was a bunch of hot air. Meanwhile the poor GM is just shaking his head in silence surely thinking, "I just wanted this to be a nice night for everyone." I kept saying things which I hoped would calm the psycho down but it didn't work. I have a lot of experience dealing with drunk people and I believe I'm pretty good at turning negative moments around but this guy was impossible. What a fuck. He managed to disintegrate my respect for him. I hope he does quit because I don't want to see him again.
I'm really pissed because I was really looking forward tonight. Overall it was still a cool outing but its shot at glory was destroyed by one piece of trash.
Fucking A. I hope our holiday party is free of such shit, but that's probably hoping for too much. Restaurant employees aren't generally known for their stability and normalcy.
Cheers,
msi.

Hope you do have lots of fun at the holiday party though.
