sara and i played hooky on thursday. sometimes it feels like we walked into some 1960's french movie where people lay around in bed all the time, smoke way too much, drink way too much - huh - not really sure what movie i'm referencing there. it probably doesn't exist. either way, that's how it feels some times. you put your clothes on to go to the store for cigarettes or beer or wine and while you're driving in daylight, fully clothed, not in some over the top sexy bubble. you can't believe that reality feels weirder than the debauchery. well yeah, that's me getting a little too lost in my thoughts again but it's the way things have felt.
we managed to put our heads straight enough to check out a movie too. garden state was the perfect thing to see. it's heart was definitely in the right place.
last night i finally had a chance to spend time with cara. we went to see My Morning Jacket and they were a m a z i n g. it was a strange combination of really absorbing their genius performance and being distracted by the surprising fraternity faction which showed up in force. i kind of loved seeing the big john belushi looking guy, so wasted that his hair looked drunk, pumping his fist while singing along. during the last song he hugged the lead singer. then you had the overly friendly "hey let's rock together tonight" guy who introduced himself before the show, tried to engage me in coversation, and continuously flashed me "hey dude, check it out, i'm rockin'" looks during the show. later he tried to pick up a very drunk emo boy who, despite having a kick ass girl(she had 60's country singer hair) with him, he looked as if he might give in.
it was great to spend time with cara after my week living in the raunchy hallmark card commercial with my new girl. we're going to have breakfast today, take my dog to the lake, and watch some cheesy movies. i can't wait!
oh yeah and one more thing. i heard a song by this new band All Night Radio that sent me. I get excited over everything but this seemed insanely great.
