Today, on this sunny Florida day, I was walking my dog Anastasia around the pool in our back yard. Ana likes to run around the pool and seldomly take a dip every once and a while, and it being as hot as it was I just couldn't stay away from the water!
In our back yard, consists a gigantic Turtle paradise that I like to call "Turtle Lake". Every day it gets pretty toasty outside, the turtles like to scuttle their way to the sand bank of Turtle Pond. They all sit there in peace and soak up some sun.
Well, while I was relaxing along the pool size, I all of a sudden had a feeling and a sudden urge of me needing to check the Chlorine box in the corner of the pool. Where very unfortunate frogs, snakes, and various other poor animals wined up when they get stuck in the pool. :( I've saved about 3 baby snakes from there and I had the feeling I needed to check again. I grabbed the hook that opens the area and I unlocked it. I peered inside to see many dead frogs and I was quite torn up about it. So I fished them out with a baggy and gave them a proper barriel. But, as I kept looking, I found to which seemed to be a very very small turtle that was no bigger than the palm of my hand. I was devastated. He wasn't moving and just sat at the bottom of the water. He couldn't have been their long because I had cleaned the area an hour ago. I still attempted to get him out because maybe I could keep his spirit alive by preserving him.
As soon as I reached down to grab him, he started moving! I was so happy! The little guy was still alive! I scooped him up and hurried off to the Turtle Lake. I sat along the water side on the bank, and placed him in the sand among the water. Hoping he would be okay. I sat there with him a while, and he was up and ready to go! He zoomed into the water and burried himself in the sand. After watching him for a bit, he was swimming in no time. :)
I'm so glad that I checked the Chlorine box because I saved a baby turtles life and I was so happy. :) <3
I'll do everything in my power to save any animal I can. <3
