Here's something interesting:
My car just died.
I was driving to class and the transmission went wonky. First it was just a lag when accelerating, then it was more than a lag. Within a few blocks it just stopped changing gears entirely. I pulled into a service station and got a little refill on the fluid... It was a little low. "Ok, now I'm good," I thought. Nope! I pulled back out on the road and at the next light I couldn't even go. I crept onto a side street into an office development, and coasted to a halt. Every attempt at acceleration felt like my car was in "park." Stuck in the middle of the street... what can I do? Well, reverse still works! So I swung around, maneuvered my way into the parking lot and backed into a space in the shade.
And there she rests.
I need to ride my bike more anyway. And I won't have to pay for gas or the new brakes I've been needing. I can still get to the places I need to go. Most of them, anyway. I figure I'll eventually try to get the car fixed, but it's not a priority right now. Heck, it's summertime! Who needs a car when biking is so cheap and good for you?
I can handle this.
edit to say YES I KNOW WHAT A TRANSMISSION COSTS. jeez. It might not be the whole damn transmission, though. I might be able to get away with just flushing the system or something. People keep messaging me like I don't know shit, and it's annoying.
