Well, things are improving a bit. The initial shock of the robbery is over. We've contacted the police and insurance, and hopefully everything will be back to normal soon. Neither one of us is still terribly pleased, but we're coping okay. And when the insurance check comes, we'll be sure to go on a shopping spree.
I've been out of town three weekends in a row, which is contributing to my lack of presence here. Three weeks ago I was in DC for SPX, the comics Small Press Expo (link) to plug my upcoming book. The show went well, and is definitely worth another visit next year. Small, intimate, yet a nice opportunity to press the flesh and network.
Two weekends ago I was at an academic conference in Birmingham, AL, presenting a paper and catching up with a lot of old friends that I have there. We lived in Birmingham for ten years before moving to NC, so still have tons of connections there.
Last weekend, we were in Durham to catch the Duke-Vanderbilt game. The good guys won, 45-28, so happyness was had by all. Vandy is 4-5, and needs another upset to have a bowl chance. Photo for your enjoyment.

Sounds like you're coping well, and retail therapy is quite effective.
As a young girl with a single mother, the violation was waaayyyyy worse than anything we lost. I totally feel for you and Pravon!
