At last, the traveling for the summer is over, and I have nine days or so to catch up on things here at home before school starts up.
Chicago was a teriffic trip. We went to Wrigley Field, which, if you are a baseball fan, is one of the Meccas that you must visit before you die. The game the night before had been rained out, so they decided to play a doubleheader the day we were there. In the immortal words of Cubs hall-of-famer Ernie Banks, "Let's play two!"
The day started off misty and windy, but after about three innings the sun came out and it couldn't have been a better day for baseball.
pravon and I with our rain slickers
The beloved outfield wall ivy. And some fat guy.
The famous Wrigley Field Sign. And some fat guy.
Wizard World Chicago was also fun. It was my first Chicago which, although no San Diego, still was pretty big, although I don't think there were 50.000 there as advertised. It was also my first time on the other side of the booth, which made for interesting perspectives. I can't tell you how many portfolios I went through and how much bad art I had to look at.
But it was a fun show--definitely worth the trip. Pravom managed to get a ticket to see the Kevin Smith Q&A that was going on that weekend, and our booth was right next to one with a hot Lisa-Loeb type tattooed girl working at it. So the view was nice!
Our booth before the con opened on Friday
Stan Yan and me trying to plug our upcoming book
Waves of unwashed masses
Now I need to rest a bit, catch up on things, and get ready for the student onslaught.
