No demons follow me when I run. Running puts me a state of mind where none of them seem to be able to join me. There's something about the quiet, the listening to the world around me, hearing each footfall, my own breathing, the rhythm of it all.

I was watching a movie earlier, nothing interesting but just something to distract and provide company, when the scene switched to an early morning shot of the ocean just north of LA. As the image came and went on my TV I was reminded of wonderful drives across this country. Watching dawn slowly creep in dead silence sometimes for days in a row, chasing sunsets...

[warning: very random blog entry follows]

Training is not going well. Sick for a week or so. I'm hoping to get back to the gym tomorrow. I don't think I've lost much ground -a week won't be my undoing -but at the same time I clearly didn't stay on track or make any progress. At this point anything but getting better feels like taking a...

Only seven or eight weeks until my trip (see previous blog entry). It'll be good to take some time off. It's a frantic trip but I'm resigned to the fact that I only seem capable of frantic trips. I just need to press with work and my training and make through until the end of April!

Well, my trip is now finalized. San Francisco/Chicago/Detroit/Toronto/Las Vegas. It's a lot of flying around but this is my "visit" trip -other than for business I don't think I'll be back in North America much over the next couple of years. It's funny because I almost shelved this trip and went to Paris instead. I found rountrip tickets for about $600 (which is very cheap...

Speeding towards mid-February. Only a hundred days or so until I'm done with Act I. It'll be a long hundred days but it somehow seems bearable. Break a hundred and it will start to just roll away...

The big question is what to do with the little break I'm rewarding myself with between Act I and Act II of my current little play. I think...

January always seems to rush by. I normally don't catch up with the year until February sometime and by then it will firmly be 2009. It's odd the past few years I've been a bit amazed and annoyed at how quickly time has flown. Right now though, I'll be happy to get to April. April and May I should get a bit of a break...

I've been running a fair bit lately. I've finally gotten around all the injuries, etc... and it feels good to be building up the physical endurance. It helps me focus, keeps my mind sharp. Some people meditate. When my body lets me, I like to run. Nothing impressive like halfs or marathons but good solid runs. No cell phone. No email. No internet. It clears...

I think I'm done. I still have a lot of time on my contract but I think I'll take a break when it's over. I want to go to Nepal for a year and just have nothing to do with cell phones, credit cards, wal-mart, income tax, performance reviews, meaningless workdays, empty relationships, cable television, and all the other crap that seems to be turning...
