My cousin Valeri left for Iraq today. It makes me feel bad that no one in my family was able to go see her graduate from boot camp. My aunt and uncle are worthless. And I couldn't get the time off work. Val and I are pretty close, we were both the tomboys of the family. While our sisters were playing Barbies, Val and I were outside playing football, and climbing trees with the boys that lived around my neighborhood.
Up until now I had only friends over there, it's alot different when you have a relative there. She's not in to much danger so I'm told. She is going to be a water tester, she probably wont be in combat unless something awful happens. I worry like a mad woman about her though. I probably wont worry about her as much once she gets there and contacts me.
Just a couple months ago my friend and I decided to adopt a soldier. It's amazing how many people in the military have no family back in the states to support them over there. You send them care packages and letters. It truely is an experience getting to know someone you've never seen before and are probably never going to meet.
Anywhoo, On a more happier note, My weekend getaway draws closer! I'm so excited to get the hell out of PA for a few days. A bunch of us rented a huge house in the woods on a lake. It should prove to be interesting. We have a hot tub, pool table, huge deck, volleyball and a fire pit. Lots of trails around to go hiking, and a few micro breweries!!! So it will be busy, but relaxing. I'm going to drink alot of beer and sit by the fire, or in the hot tub.......PERFECT!
Have a great weekend!!!!!!
