MMA Fans - - - Shoguns nasty break
Just finished watching Pride 31. Not a great event overall, there were too many mismatches on the card. The weight divisions in Pride are a bit confusing, there seemed to be a lot of really big dudes fighting smaller and less experienced fighters. Quinton Rampage Jackson (the guy every says would beat Chuck Liddels ass, but I dont believe that) and a sloppy fight against someone he probably should have beaten rather quickly. The fight that will surely be the fire of every MMA message board was the Mark Coleman (old school grappler, and by old school, I just mean OLD) and Mauricio Rua (a young fighter who I personally think is one of the best in the world right now). This fight ended very suddenly after a sloppy double leg take down by Coleman and Shoguns elbow was dislocated. The referee tried to stop the fight, but assumabley Coleman was still high strung on adrenalin and pushes him aside and tries to go after Shogun again. Then all hell breaks loose, and Chute Box (the group Shogun trains w/) come in to stop Coleman, and it end up being an in ring brawl while Shoguns laying on the mat most likely in shock due to the nasty break. Coleman then takes full responsibility for the win. I thought that was a bit disrespectful of Shoguns injury. The whole debacle was hard to watch. I am sure the break will be in MMA highlights for months to come.
Looking forward to the next UFC PPV GO CANADA! (Im not Canadian, but I am a huge George Saint Pierre fan That dude is an amazing fighter w/ tons of class).
