Does anyone know where I can download songs from the Velvet Goldmine Soundtrack? I'm looking for some that aren't on the soundtrack. There's "Sebastian", sung by Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Venus in Furs), "My Unlcean" sung by Ewan McGregor, and "Gimme Danger" also sung by Ewan McGregor. I really wanted these also when I bought it, but they are not included and I can't seem to find them. (I'm lazy when it comes to downloading music, seriously, if I don't find it right away I tend to give up.) It's possible they weren't recording in a long format, just sampled, but if they have been I really want to have them.
Thanks everyone who expressed concern about my ongoing saga. My father's out of the hospital, worse for wear, and extremely paranoid. I saw him yesterday though, that was....good... and bad... I'm concerned about his treatment in that place, he came out a bit scathed and tramautized. It's possible he may just have cracked since he tried to hurt himself, but I have serious doubts on this considering that my mom claims he was normal in the previous hospital (the psych ward). Yeah, overall not good, but I will keep updating as more info comes to light.
I discover that two glasses of wine a few times a week, in lieu of breakfast, helps one shed weight... I dropped about 8 pounds that I had gained on and off over the holidays and all this shit. Fun, while I'm looking better my liver suffers... wheee!!! At least I can still go stretched without drinking though.
What now... fun talk...well, work talk, which for me is occasionally fun. I have been researching fairy tale retellings so I can make a display of them at work. This means I get to read lots of cute and well done adaptations. (I love an excuse to read anything that takes me two hours to power through). This really is just an excuse for me to order in a bunch of titles that we don't carry so I can read them, but don't tell anyone I said that. however this book was decent, this one was really well done, and this one I am cureently reading. So much fun, this "Once upon a time" series is very well executed, and I am enjoying the familiar twists and turns reinvented. I tell you what, it's a neverending quest to find something worthwhile in the young adults section, so when I happen across anything good I grope at it like a drowning victim... that section is the bane of my existance, all it is is more highschool drama crap preparing young readers for the romance section... "I like him, does he like me, why doesn't he like me, I must destroy him and then destroy myself in an effort to win him"... blah blah blah... horrible garbage... pandering to the lowest common denominator... blah.
*end rant*
yeah, that's about all I've got for now...off to work and food. talk to you all soon.

But - Isobelle Carmody, Victor Kelleher, Gary Crew, Gillian Rubenstein.
The following are old books that I still adore:
1. Isobelle Carmody - The Gathering
2. Isobelle Carmody - Green Monkey Dreams
3. Victor Kelleher - Taronga
4. Gillian Rubenstein - Beyond the Labyrinth
Those books fucked delightfully with my head as a teenager and made me really think and feel so much more than other books did.
Anyway, you've probably read them, but any opportunity I get to espouse good Aussie writing and good young adult fiction, I just have to take it!!
Sorry to hear about your family and I hope you can fight through it...
