I leave for NY on Friday after work and then I am going to a Crossfit certification. It is really strange to think about how much a gym has changed my life; but over the last couple of months I have become really aware of it and I just can't believe it hasn't been part of my life longer.
Since I started going to this gym, but that really doesn't even seem to do it credit, I have found that there are so many things that are actually in my grasp. Why did it take the expenditure of physical effort on pull-up bars and relearning to do handstands to make this happen? No idea. But I feel as though I have been reawakened. The things that I wanted when I was a kid, the noble things, are being reignited with an incredible fervor.
The bad times that I have experienced over the last couple of months have been really bad, but they haven't been insurmountable and I think that having the support group of my friends at crossfit to help me through countless rounds of workouts with crazy names like Eva, Fran, Elizabeth, Murphy, Angie, and Freddie's Revenge has helped me deal with some of the other turmoil in my life these days.
I just feel really lucky to have found this outlet. Which if you really knew me, you would find an ironic statement to the nth degree.
So, updates, my bike comes in sometime this week, but since I will be in NYC this weekend my first ride with it will probably be the weekend on the other side of Easter. I am hoping to see my friend Tony in NY and meet his girlfriend, we will see, it looks like I am going to be chock full of stuff to do at the cert so I might not have time. Work is work and I have given up investing time or any headspace to it because in the summer I move to Maine for school and then I am hoping to find work in New Zealand or Australia (which is the country of my birth). I would love to live in the southern hemisphere because there is so much traveling I want to do and being located down there would make it all seem so much easier, although looking at flying times from Sydney to Tokyo, Mumbai, and Shanghai it doesn't seem to make a real difference. But variety is the spice of life and so I think a little change couldn't be a bad thing.
This is, upon rereading, a blog of nonsense and rambling. I hope everyone has a spectacular couple of days.
