My friend moved to LA last week and sold me his Technics SL 1400 turntable for $50. I needed a new one and was looking into buying a new 1200. They cost $600. The 1400 is from the 80's and is semi automatic verus the 1200's fully automatic features and that's the only difference. It has all of the same features and controls as the 1200. I'd say I got a deal. I'm not a DJ nor do I care about DJing I just have a huge record collection.
The only catch with buying it was that the groundwire had been clipped because there is a way to defeat the ground and whoever owned it before him hadn't finished the mod so I had to make a new ground wire and attach it to the little bit of wire that was still sticking out. I haven't had a working turntable in almost a year and am loving it.
Fuck digital, the future belongs to analog.
