I FINALLY GOT CONFIRMATION FOR MY FREE PSP!!!!
Let's not waste too much time. Lemme bring you up to speed.
For as long as I have been on the internet, I've seen those advertisements for free shit! Free Vacations! Free Refrigerators!! Free Computers!! Free Video Game Consoles!!!
Let me say this right now Though most of you probably already know this, this is mostly for those as NAIVE as myself at that time.
THERE IS NOTHING FOR FREE!!! YOU PAY FOR IT IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!
I used to ignore these offers, but back in March of this year, I decided to risk it, and see what these offers were really all about!
I decided to sign up for a Free Playstation Portable! I now would have rather peeled the skin off of my own flesh with a pair of pliers, then dipped myself in alcohol, and set myself on fire!!! It would have been alot less trouble, less painful, and not a damaging.
You don't get those for free! You have to fill out 5 or 6 offers from different companies, and have them confirm that you did in order to get the product.
Ok. So. I accepted that. I understood you could'nt really get this shit for free. I'll just fill out a few offers for stuff I'd actually want, and get a Free PSP to boot, right!?!?! HOHOHOHOHO!! Was I in for a surprise!
I signed up for a credit card, doubleday book club, colombia house, some damn diet program, a newspaper subscription, etc.
Did I forget to mention you also get signed up for a SHITLOAD of spam e-mail, and because you signed up for it and gave them your e-mail, your spam filter does'nt filter it! Not just e-mail either! You get put on a BUNCH of lists, so that you get junk mail too!
Colombia House was'nt so bad. Nor was the new credit card. Nor was the Newspaper. But the other shit!!
They put me through HELL!!!
The Diet program sent you product via subscription. Meaning, you get it, and the bill for it, whether you ask for it or not. And they make it VERY difficult to cancel.
Doubleday was the worst!! They have what they call a "Monthly Selection". You originally order 5 or 6 books from them for like $1 apiece, then every month they pick 2 books, based on your selections, and send them and the bill for them, at full price, which is more than the store's, unless you cancel. Which they declined to tell me I could cancel them. So I start getting books, and have to argue with Doubleday to take them back. Even after I found out, and started cancelling them, THEY WERE STILL SENDING ME FUCKING BOOKS, AND CHARGING ME FOR THEM, EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY CANCELLED THEM!!!!!!
I had to complain, bitch, moan, gripe, and even had to threaten leagal action to make them stop. They finally stopped....in September! I am fulfilling my obligation to them, and cancelling. I only have to order two more! And any of you who might be thinking of trying them....DON'T!!
So, back to the offer. What happens is you fulfill these obligations. The original company making the offers checks with the offering companies to see if you fulfilled them. If you have, you login to their site and check. If it is approved, you click on the link, that has magically appeared, and you get a confimation e-mail. In the e-mail is another link. Click on it to go to a confirmation webpage that you have to print and send back to them with the address provided on the printout.
You have to do this five times, in order to get your PSP.
I had four offers approved. The fifth one would'nt come up approved. This was for the credit card I had had for SEVEN FUCKING MONTHS!!! You're supposed to make a charge to it for it to be confirmed. I was already hundreds in debt to it!
So I talk to the company, and they tell me that the company said I was'nt with them.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
They tell me to send them some sorta proof. So I send them a copy of the webpage that has my monthly statement. They say it's not enough, they need my starting date with the credit card company! I e-mail the credit card company. They send me some shit saying that they are'nt responsible for any offer that the other company has made. WTF!! I send them one back saying "I understand that. I just want my starting date." Notice I stayed nice to them. So they send me the date. I forward it to the PSP offering company. They automatically approve the offer, so that I don't have to mail anything. *whew*
It's at Eight months now since I started the offer at this point. Now I wait for an "Offer Status Approval" to pop up...which takes another SIX WEEKS!
The approval link pops up!!
YYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!
I just have to click on it, get a confirmation email, click the link in it, and finally get a coupon to send off to get the PSP.
I click on it and wait. And wait. And wait. Nothing. I click on it again. And wait. Nothing still. I go back and click on it a dozen times in a row. Nothing.
Finally I e-mail the company about the problem, and wait.
At last...today, December 6th 2005, Nine months after I had started this shit, they send me an e-mail saying they're having trouble lately with their links, and send me an approval link.
Now I just have to print out the coupon, (don't worry, I was smart enough to save it for printing) and send it off for a free PSP!!!
I got such a feeling of relief getting that!! Some part of me just let loose. I even hugged my brother!
This has been a long, tiresome, and aggravating process. And now it's almost over. If you have read this in it's entirety, Thank you for listening, and I send ya proper love!
WHEW!!
That's enough from me!
Later.

Congrats on getting it finally, though. Hope it's worth it.
I have to find a new one soon.
Urgh,
