My friend, I appreciate your articulate & compassionate thoughts, about the derivative causes of cancer, that WE have added, since the industrial revolution. I agree, 100%. - My comment was occasioned by a platitude, that is seldom questioned: "There's a reason for everything." It sounds great! But its logical conclusion is rife with cruelty. To tell cancer sufferers that a supreme being has willed it, or that they earned being crushed under the karmic wheel, because of a former life, only makes the world uglier.

You sound as if either yourself or someone very close to you has had or has cancer. Cancer is a very cruel and unforgiving disease. My mother was a cancer survivor, as was my grandmother and my uncle was a cancer victim and I was a hospice nurse for several years so I am all too familiar with cancer.
jacinto2:
Actually, nobody in my family ever had cancer. We're heart attack people! - The fact that you were a hospice nurse, explains your exemplary compassion.
