I can listen to Sallie Ford in one moment and then Britten's Winter Words in the next. Everyone I have ever met only knows or is fixated on one thing. If you cannot speak to them about that one thing then there is no conversation. When I go out to hear a band play I can seriously get high on the music and I don't need to drink or take drugs. I love discipline but I know how to have fun. If I hear classical I can get so into the music and the person who wrote the music but the people around me are usually so "old" and and don't realize how much power the music has. They are there because it's a respectable thing to do and they know nothing about the real lives and real human beings behind the music. Just listen to Goerne's new Schubert recital, heartbreaking and yet uplifting all at the same time. Listen to Foxgen's "San Francisco", so much fun! Or just plain cool like Sinatra's "In the Wee Small Hours."
Never have fit in, never will, never want to.
but it's nice to know that there are some others out there just like you...
