Wow, > 1 year. I know y'all have been waiting with baited breath.

Stuff that's happened in the past year:
1. Birth of the child and settling into fatherhood (so far, so good!).
2. Left my job for a different job.
3. Lots of trips.
4. Got laid off by new job.
5. Currently on the job market again.

How are you out there?

Howdy, all. How are you? I am fine. Starting to get used to the whole 'holy shit my life is gonna change' thing. I'll stop harping on it soon. Other news: hospital, biking to and across the Golden Gate Bridge and back, Lower Haight scavenger hunt, 'team building exercise' at work with beer. Also, went and did karaoke last night with a couple of hip-hop...

You will settle into the feeling soon enough. It is rather strange trying to think about it the first time though.
Everything is better with beer wink

I wish you the best of luck in your future! I'm sure it will all turn out for the best and your life will change if you have a child, but I hear it's usually change in a good way.

Seems we're definitely having a kid soon, but it's still early. Very early. So, anything can happen and we're not telling the fam or friends just yet. So, confidential to those I knew in RL before joining this site... keep yer traps shut. I needed to vent when I posted initially, and the relative safety of mostly anonymous strangers on the intartubes helps.

I'm preparing...

So, uh, just found out that wifey may be pregnant.

Not sure if I'm quite ready for this yet.

EDIT: Shit, I also seem to have misplaced my wedding ring. Weird sequence of events tonight.

DOUBLE EDIT: Found the ring. Somehow made it into the sock drawer.

Operation: get video card installed so's I can play Bioshock 2 declared a success (I finally finished the install last week, I think). Just beat Bioshock 2. It's a great, great game. But Bioshock was just so groundbreaking that it's hard to follow that up. Partly, also, just a lot of the same awesomeness.

I really, really hope this runny nose and sore throat are remnants of a mild but annoying mesquite/palo verde allergy, and not something more serious.

Picked up Bioshock 2 today. Now I just need a video card that can handle it.

I turn 30 in about 2 weeks. I am going to attend this. Sounds like fun.

I have had nothing but great luck with the ATI Radeon series. I am still running a 9550, and aside from getting a bit warm after several hours, it has worked great for the last 5 years in my old system.

I'm definitely going to have to check out that author!

So I've been into playing "Borderlands" with friends lately. It's ok, not my favorite game in the world (the controls are a bit strange, and the random encounters a bit repetitive), but it's fun and my friends enjoy it. So that's really enough.

Unrelated note: I gotta get serious about exercise again. I've been feeling sluggish lately, and that's definitely a result of not getting...

My buddies and I thought about trying to get some kind of weekend thing going again, but life got in the way as it often does.

Howdy all. It's been a while. I had to go back to Singapore, which is a country where websites like this one are outlawed (and the double 'security' feature of the corporate laptop didn't help). Ah, well. This year has been stupid busy with travel. It's winding down (for a while, anyway), but there's still a lot of it. For example, I'm heading back to...

Wifey gets back from Canada tonight.

This weekend, I watched the movie "Primer". Man, that is everything a low-budget science fiction film should be. Highly recommended, although as a warning, there aren't any monsters or flashy effects. It's a very story-driven movie, and since it's about time travel, it's a confusing, nonlinear story.

Finally getting over the plague. Apparently, Fat Tire comes in cans now. Wifey goes to Toronto tomorrow. Any fellow SFer's want to hang out this weekend?

Whew. Long week. I'm finally starting to kick this virus in the ass. I thought it was bacteria; the doctor said otherwise and he seems to be right.

My boss resigned last week, though it sounds like he got an offer he couldn't really refuse. More power to him.

Last night was the Lower Haight art walk. Mostly, it was a chance to go to...

Sorry about the latest absences y'all. I've had a month of traveling and visitors in my tiny 1BD apartment. Including my 2 1/2 year old nephew, who was here the day I got back from Singapore. Favorite quote from the tyke? "We went to the zoo, and the penguin dropped a deuce. It smelled terrible. It was funny." Smart kid, learning early that scatalogical humor...

Kids are damn funny that way. I usually get a few one liners every week, which always makes me crack the hell upbiggrin
Hope you can shake whatever bug has hold of you. I'm sure it didn't help being stuck in a flying petrie dish for that long.
