For anyone that has read my journal, you have probably noticed that ive only ever done quotes for journal entries. So today marks a departure from that format into something different. If you read and enjoy the quotes, never fear for i will continue to supply you with the pearls of wisdom that i painstakingly glean from various quote websites. In the event that you only care about the quote you can jump directly to the bottom where it has been conveniently located for those who dont like to read much. But something happened that has caused me to reevaluate my position on my journal entries. Something happened today that suddenly motivated me to begin sharing with you, yes you, the one reading this right now because i can almost assure you that no one else is, things that are going on around me. What is this momentous event you ask? Well i will tell you, i must tell you. But first i have to say that autocorrect is really pissing me off; i never capitalize the word i when i write, but Word keeps changing it on me. Why im writing an email in Word is a topic for another day, but suffice it to say i am, and this is bugging the crap out of me, now i have to go back and change them all (and to the smartass thats about to say you dont have to go back and change them, yes, yes i do, its the principal of the matter, and if we abandon our principals what do have left? Nothing, chaos, and is that what you want, really? i thought not).
A man, when i was at work today, was in the bathroom at the same time i was. He had been there before me, in the stall the farthest of two from the door. He knew i was there as i went into the vacant stall and the locks make a lot of noise. He was quite, just doing what one does in the bathroom. Then, for no particular reason, as he went to wipe his ass, he began humming. Loudly. Humming while wiping ones ass in a public toilet is just not something one does, it is strange, and while Miss Manners probably does not have a chapter dedicated to such a topic, i will go so far as to say that it is poor public toilet etiquette. And yet this is the story that has inspired me to write something other than other peoples words in my journal. I am giving very serious consideration to this idea as, number one it was inspired by the above related story, and i must ask myself if anything inspired by such a story can be good, and number two this will invariably require me to write updates that are more than a sentence long. Not that many people will read them, and not that i will care. I talk to myself all day long, i see no significant difference between talking while no one listens and writing when no one is reading, aside from the fact that someone could dig up what i have written and one day use it against me in a court of law. But other than that one insignificant detail
People who read my journal or whose journals i have commented in, but are probably not reading this, will notice that i have changed my profile pic from one of The Thinker to one of a real person. I look nothing like this. That is a picture of me, but not a current one. That one is from about a year and a half ago at the wrap party for my friends short film. You will notice that in the picture i have what appears to be a very peculiar kind of five oclock shadow. This is now a full beard and mustache combo. My hair is different too. In the picture it is short, now it is not. It has a bit of a wave to it, but if i pull it straight it goes about an inch below my chin. So you may be asking why i would go to all the work of changing my pic if the picture i chose is not an accurate one. Its very simple: i dont have a camera and i have to other pictures of myself. But i may get a camera soon and then i will correct this problem.
This weekend i will be on a film shoot, which i am very excited about as i have only worked on one project in the past nine or ten months and i really like working on films. Monday its back to school, and this first day of my class, thats right MY class. My major allows us to create our own classes, pick the books, give the assignments and issue grades. Granted the classes are only 2 credits and the grades are pass/fail, but all the same its fun. I did a class on Taoism last quarter that went over surprisingly well so i am doing it again and hoping i get another good group of students. We read two books for the quarter, they write short papers each week (i dont have to write papers as i am the facilitator of the class, hehe) and then we basically sit and talk about it for two hours a week; super easy and surprisingly insightful. And this is my last quarter before i graduate, both good and bad. Well im bored with this so im going to stop.
Christmas: it's the only religious holiday that's also a federal holiday. That way, Christians can go to their services, and everyone else can sit at home and reflect on the true meaning of the separation of church and state.
