Well, my sister staying with us in February was almost disastrous. Now my brother has moved back to Illinois, and he might end up living with us. At first I was opposed because he has a tendency to be overbearing and annoying. He's also really funny, though. He can do a bunch of voices and impersonations, quite well too. I'm pretty sure he could make anyone laugh, even on the worst of days. That said, I don't think him living with us would be too bad this time around. A few years ago? He was hell to live with. He ate everything and left a huge mess. And he was on house arrest, so he was always around.
He just flew in last night from South Carolina, and his original plan was to stay with his aunt in Aurora. Well, that's not too good of an idea. He wants to stay out of trouble, but that side of his family is notorious for being bad influences. There's some drug use (which he's struggled with before), violence, and just bad judgement in general. The last time he stayed with that aunt, he was 12, and he ended up going to juvi for cutting a kid's throat with a box knife during Saturday school. The kid he cut had been fucking with him, and his aunt basically gave him permission to get violent. From what I've read, he took the box knife as a scare tactic and didn't necessarily intend to use it. A fight broke out and the kid somehow got in the way of the blade, so it's not like my brother slashed his throat intentionally (as far as I know). He used to be in a gang and had a lot of enemies in Aurora. This was like 10 years ago, so one has to wonder if the threat has died down, or if staying in Aurora would be both unwise and unsafe.
He claims that he wants to start fresh. He's already begun looking for work, and he expressed interest in taking classes at the school I'm going to. It's too soon to determine if he's really changed, but it's a good possibility. I missed having my big brother around. He can be overprotective, but it's comforting to know that he cares so much. He's like a big teddy bear when he wants to be. Plus, I heard he has nothing but negative things to say about our older sister. Alas, we have something in common!
