Theres a Bear in the neighborhood. I havent seen it yet myself but it went through the neighbors garden, dined on their garbage and left big bear paw tracks all over the place. It looks like I might have something to look forward to.
In addition to Bear we also have Fox, Coyote and Wolves around here. Im out a lot at night and I often see examples of them all.
All of these photos were take at the Thompson Pond Preserve over the past week. There are Mountain Lions there. I havent seen one of them yet but this spring we came across some fresh tracks just a few miles away. That is actually one animal that I hope to not ever meet up with in the wild. They are dangerous and unpredictable. Ive seen the way my kitty stalks and plays with little critters and toys. I most certainly would not want to cross paths with a 225 pound (102 kg) relative of Rhiannons in the woods.
We had a bit of wildlife excitement here the other night. The Coyotes were restless and howling back and forth across the river. It all seemed quite a bit louder than normal so I went outside to listen for a while. There was only a tiny sliver of the Moon in the sky and it was behind a cloud when I first went and sat down. My eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness and the sky began to clear. Suddenly I saw them right at the edge of the yard, about 40 ft (12.2 m) away were (at least) two Coyotes quietly watching me. We looked at each other for a while and then I got up, went inside and left the night to them. It was an interesting experience.
Im still living in the same place. Youve probably noticed that I like it here - just as long as its not making me sick. I have been looking around but no place has seemed perfect nor has anywhere else excited me enough to make me want to move. I hate moving and I dont want to be pushed into choosing a new place to live I want to really live there. Im also now starting to think about going someplace warm for the winter. I lived in southern Florida for about a year a while back and loved it. Ive always been fascinated by the southwestern states, especially Arizona.
Ive also been considering putting all my stuff into storage and buying an RV. I know, its not a really great time to be thinking of buying and living in something that gobbles gasoline like I eat pizza but it could be an exciting way to live for a while. I could be a Snowbird live up here in the summer and go south in the winter. I could stay here while it was warm and spend the colder months in Arizona. I guess that would make me a Snow Lizard. I need to think about it a bit more
Meanwhile, I hope that life is treating you well. I know that its not always easy but try to enjoy yourself. This is not the dress rehearsal; this is it. Try to make the most of it.
Best wishes.

I have to pay you a compliment. I've noticed that you are able to make so many diversified friends here. Not only are you a great guy, but you're very knowledgeable about so many things. My interests are much narower than yours.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the group of friends i've made here. It's that I sometimes wish I could have more of an ability to branch out to others by having more diverse interests.
Have a great day.
Grayb the American Gypsy? Rollin with the seasons, on the road gaining insight into the Flying Dutchman of the American Dream, somehow that sounds very Kerouac and very appropriate.
