Hello people. Well, I got laid off from work last friday, and it sucks. It sucks because on top of not working, I get that feeling of worthlessness and lose the will to do pretty much anything. I get this void in me that can only be filled with stuff, but stuff costs money, and I have no job at the moment, which means no money.
That's enough sulking I guess. It's been two games since last update and two more non-wins on the scoreboard, but oddly good feelings for the team. The first one last week was a 9-6 loss to the second place team in the league and I really wish I counted shots because that night I was absolutely exhausted after the game. Felt like I was up and down all night, don't really remember too much from that game (damn short-term memory loss) but the general feeling in the locker room wasn't horrible.
The second game (a rare monday game) was a 6-6 tie with the first place team in the league. (yes we have ties in this league after overtime, kinda lame) This is a game where our best player was being mauled all damn game with no calls. The only power play came for teh other team on a phantom hook that the refs really shouldn't have called. ( refs were letting shit go or calling incidental minors all game) But whatever, I think they scored on that PP. Aside from our guy wearing a human coat all game it was pretty uneventfull until the end. I forget the time left in the third but late in the game we were down 6-4. Our guys have been damn good all night blocking shots all game, but some always get by, and especially late in a game where you are losing, you start taking more shots. More shots means more times you miss the net and that usually leads to breaks the other way. Most of the time they shot it wide or the defense got back and left me with the shooter, so it was no big deal. One time though the D was beat (it happens) and it was a 2 on 0 coming at me. Cut to the point where they are down low near my net and the guy on stick side has the puck. He's pretty much at the goal line so I'm hugging the post, he quickly passes to the guy over glove side and he shoots... right into my chest as I'm diving across. Lucky lucky lucky. well this sprung a 2 on 1 going to their end and on pretty much a mirror play we score! 6-5 now. Fast forward a little bit and there's less than 2 minutes left. Play is staying kinda in the middle, a shot here or there in one end or the other but mostly neutral zone play. I keep glancing over to our bench to wait for the motion to come off so we can get an extra attacker to try to even it up, but we just can't get set up in their zone, but guess what, it didn't matter! On a rush after one of their missed shots our guys start moving up, I'm slowly following them to the bench and the guy who has been getting mauled all night starts making moves. He beats one defender, then a second, then a third, then the goalie! The score is tied and we're going to overtime.
OT was exciting at both ends. After making an incredible glove save (go me!) my guys turn it on, but unfortunately so did the other team's goalie. Play stayed in their end the rest of the OT, but there was a lot of iron, glass, and padding that got hit. After it was over we tied and we were feeling pretty good about it.
On another note the Flyers- Caps game last night was pretty good despite teh Flyers losing. Ovechkin is always a blast to watch and they were honoring Ron Hextall last night.
Oh well that's enough for one time I guess.
Thanks for listening!
