So it's been quite a few years now since I have posted anything on here.. I'm still slowly working away at attempting to build up my business growing hot peppers, but it's struggle that has become even more a challenge where my mother has ended up having Dementia in the past few years and I've had to take on the role of being her caregiver.
Though it may not succeed, I'm taking a shot at trying to get into streaming games on Twitch (along with FB, and soon YouTube). Games offer a flexibility where I can hopefully work around caring for my mother, seeing as they typically can be paused - or at the least it's pretty easy to just put down a controller or keyboard.
While I've been a web developer and graphic designer for well over 20 years, it has sadly never really developed into a lasting, steady income for me - partly because I'm in a small town, partly due to a lack of marketing skills, partly due to having spent too much of my life being passive & letting others walk over me, and partly because of market saturation.
Over time so many new technologies came around for web development that I simply had no chance of keeping up, and now so there's so many websites out there that let people easily, and cheaply throw together websites that I'm essentially obsolete.
In recent years I discovered I have a particularly good talent for doing graphic design for political campaigns, but again - small town. Folks turn to their pals or default to the local printing agencies. I even attempted reaching out to the government when the most recent municipal elections came around to see how I could get my foot in the door and they simply ignored me - no response.
For a time I had worked with someone in Chicago, but ultimately they took much of my work and ran - keeping the money that came from it for themselves while feeding me endless excuses before claiming it was my problem that I didn't get paid (despite them being the business owner and all contact with the clients went through them). Certainly leaves a sour taste in one's mouth.
So, here I am - at least attempting to explore a potential avenue for income. At the very least, maybe I can entertain a few people, maybe pick up some marketing skills for today's online world.
So far I'm really enjoying Fallout 76 and Grounded, lately, and I'm hoping at some point to get myself back into Warframe.
Without further adieu, check me out on Twitch:
