I suppose its about time to post a follow-up blog about my trip. Hmm...
So I took this trip on the 18th of June to the official Kuwaiti Mosque. There are hundreds of smaller mosques in the country, but this one was built by the government almost 20 years ago and is the largest in the country. It is also the seventh largest mosque in the world, and is the largest mosque supported on four pillars or with a fully carpeted floor. (Silly random facts, but interesting none the less.)
I REALLY wish I had some pictures that came out okay. Perhaps I can find some and post them up later.
This place was huge, though. It could hold over 10,000 people at one time and has this massive dome in the center. Whats worse is that the whole dadgumned thing was HAND CARVED. The "lattice work" is awesomely done, as are the pillars and even the crystal chandalliers (sp?). The whole friggin place was gorgeous, and I was stuck with my dinky disposable camera that underexposed every picture I took indoors. Feh.
So yeah, I'll sort through some pictures I "borrowed" from some others, and I'll try to post some up later.
