I was reading a book by Storm Constantine called Stalking Tender Prey. It's about a tall, beautiful race of beings called The Grigori. Although they are not exactly vampires, they do drink the blood of the host families that protect them in hiding from the mass population of people. In exchange, they enlighten humans with advances in art, theater, music, ect.
The book was GREAT! But what I found even more interesting was that her idea for the Grigori actually comes from beings in the Old Testament, called Nephilim (in Genesis just before the flood and Noah's Ark). These were heroes of old, men of re known. They found favor with "the daughters of men". This implies that the Nephilim were not men themselves. This part of the bible dates concurrently with Greek Mythology (which I love).
I can't help but wonder if the Old Testament, when speaking (although very little) of these Nephilim, are referring to the very Gods of Olympus, and all beings related. The flood rid the earth of these "ungodly" beings according to the bible, or was it a case of trying to sweep old world religions under the rug, as christianity tries to do with paganism. I also find it related that Pan, the goat-like god (whom I am infatuated with at this point in time), came to be the semblance of Satan, is the only immortal to have ever died, and is also one of the oldest known deities. Even before Greek Mythology had been totally established.
Either way, I'd much rather have lived in a world with Pan & his nymphs, Dionysus, Cupid, Hera, Aphrodite, centaurs, fairies, and Nephilim than all the messiahs put together. Especially because female deities were regarded with as much, if not more importance as male ones. Can you say such a thing about any new world religion other than Wicca? Let me know if you can!!!

I love that movie. Pan's followers proclaimed him dead......however i believe he's alive and well, playing his reed flute to his nymph's for all time.
