That's the only really cool thing about the place. Everything else is pretty "normal", by mil standards. I could never, in a million years, buy a place in SD. It's pretty easy here.
You can even score a place in Norfolk just using your BAH... It's a bit dumpier than Va Beach, but if you can afford to spend 3 or 4 hundred out of pocket, you can totally buy a place here, instead of renting. And if you are married or have a roommate, it's really easy. Coming from SD, things will seem a little slow or "off-putting", at first, but when you look at other services - holy shit... It's pretty cool. At least you're not at Ft. Bragg or Ft. Knox or Jacksonville NC... I wouldn't choose to live here if I wasn't in the military, but when you look at the big picture and think "I AM in the military"... You won't have a leg to stand on if you start complaining.
