Today I experienced something rather profound at a nearby location. Right now I'm not far from a nationally recognized haunted building, the Thayer Hotel. I always see seemingly random condensation marks on certain windows indicating that the temperature on the inside of the window is colder than the outside. I always think I should take a picture at these windows but I never do.
The building has gone through many owners, the most recent being a psychic who lived there. About ten years ago I was on a ghost hunting kick so I went to go visit this place and the owner was more than willing to sit down and talk to me a bit about the ghosts inhabiting this building. Her assessment was that no ghost in this building was vengeful towards humanity, in fact it was quite the opposite. The ghosts inside come to this building because it is a familiar spot for them, a place to relax and indulge. She told me that given the right amount of respect and playfulness these ghosts are even willing to interact with guests on scheduled events. She told me it was like a game of hide and seek. If people come to play the game the resident spirits will cooperate.
I think that today I experienced that.
The building has been sitting empty for quite a while now. Such a historic building fetches a high price and I wonder if the rumors of ghosts are keeping would be buyers at bay. Either way I pass this building quite a few times every day and it always intrigues me.
So today I finally make good on my idea to take pictures of the condensation marks and this is what I got.
I'm fully creeped out but thankful to have capture such crazy images. I'm sure whatever it was just wanted to reach out and let me know it was there but it still stirred a deep sense of belittlement in me that was exhilarating.
