ACLU Upset At Marines
A picture of Marines praying at a recent ceremony honoring the birthday of the Corps has the ACLU up in arms. "These are federal employees," says Lucius Traveler, a spokesman for the ACLU, "on federal property and on federal time. For them to pray is clearly an establishment of religion, and we must nip this in the bud immediately."
When asked about the ACLU's charges, Colonel Jack Fessender, speaking for the Commandant of the Corps said , "Fuck the ACLU."
Personal thoughts:
Damn right, Col! Fucking over zealous Liberals taking a moment completely out of context. "Separation of Church and State" my ass. They've totally lost sight of the original idea of keeping the government from instituting a national church, and applied it to every little situation. I understand how it was a problem when children of differing faiths were being punished for not praying with the class, but now a child can be suspended from school for praying to himself before a test. Is anyone in the United States being arrested for not going to a Christian church? No. Our money does not say "In the Church of the United States of America We Trust". Do you pray to a God? You may call it Allah, Jahovah or Bob, I hope you trust in your God, you know, that being the point of faith. And if you are an Atheist... so fucking what!? Is it hurting you that other people pray? Just think, if you are right, then it's just a waste of their beath.
If I had to label mayself religiously, then it'd be Agnostic. I've stood in formations where a Chaplain has given a Christian benidiction (such as funerals, dedications, Memorial Day). While others bow their head, I continue to stand at attention and I have NEVER been pulled out of formation or recieved ANY negative reaction for that action. Must be because I respect other people's faith as I'd expect respect for mine. Oh, shit! That sounds like something written in the Christian Bible (which I have read). Buddist teaching (looked into), and Paganism (practiced for a few years).
Get a life, grow some skin, shit happens every fucking day the could, should, and/or will offend you, and as long as free will holds out, it's not gonna change any time soon.
