Still in Japan. Need to update this thing more. It's Sunday, a week after walking on hot coals at Takao-san, a mountain about an hour west of Tokyo. It actually wasn't as hot as I thought it would be, seeing as how the whole thing was a three-meter-high conflagaration (bad spelling? oh well) of pine branches ten minutes before I set my bare little tootsies on it... though if I'd stopped to take pictures while I was in the middle of it, it would have got a touch toasty. Now it's morning, finished my thousand words (up to I think 73K on my new rough draft... hopefully this turns out better than my other two completed novels) and trying to decide whether I want to bike to Hayama (a seaside town an hour's ride away) or get some soba.
