Found out my promotion to Desk Sgt. is a 2-rank promotion, the raise that comes along with it is $2.25/hr, and as the day-shift Desk Sgt. I will be put in a leadership role over all other Desk Sergeants; even though some have been there much longer than me (I've had this job for a little over 3 months). Got some Desk Sgt. training today, tomorrow I get Staff Sgt. (next higher rank) training because I'll be acting Staff Sgt. for two weeks before I officially take my Desk Sgt. position. Those two weeks will include a $2.50/hr raise from what I make now ($.25/hr more than I'll make as Desk Sgt.). In addition to my surprise at how much of a jump in rank this is, how much the raise is ($4,680/year), I am also a little shocked by how much of a leadership role this is going to be. I've never really been put into a leadership role at any of my previous jobs, wish me luck.
On another note, my son goes in-patient at 4pm Eastern for surgery tomorrow morning. Though this is either his 8th or 9th surgery, this one is kind of a big deal. After this surgery his large intestine will be connected to his small intestine and his ostomy stoma will be relocated. Once he heals, he will have to go through a bowel management program; but if that's successful he will only poop once a day instead of constantly. This is a HUGE step for the improvement of his care, his independence, and quite possibly his quality of life. I am incredibly excited for him, but also a little nervous (as any parent should be). Prayers, good vibes, whatever you're comfortable with will be greatly appreciated.
Be well, or at least as well as you can be. =]
