Here's a bit of verse---not very good verse, mind---that I stumbled upon the other day, looking for another bit of not-very-good-verse. It seemed timely, somehow...
The Five Queens
by Actual Me (is copyright & published)
Old She is,
Ageless as the Oak and Crowned with Holly;
Her Voice the cracking of Mountains ageing,
Her Wisdom the deeps of ancient Seas;
The Crone is She.
Strong She is,
Stout as the Apple and Crowned with Ivy;
Her Belly the fertile fields of Summer dawning,
Her Heart the harvest of the Fall;
The Mother is She.
Lovely She is,
Beautiful as the Ash and Crowned with Mistletoe;
Her Lips the touch of Fire,
Her Joy the deepening Combe;
The Lover is She.
Young She is,
Supple as the Rowan and Crowned with Roses;
Her Breasts the drowsy buds of Winter passing,
Her Laughter the Promise of the Spring;
The Maiden is She.
Glorious She is,
Deadly as the Yew and Crowned with Blackthorn;
Her Gaze the haunting of shadowed Tarns,
Her Power the vaults of Heaven;
The Raven is She.
Maiden, Lover, Mother, Crone,
and none of these, alone; The Raven;
Five Faces, One Design;
She Who Is and Was, and Shall Be.

I saw all kinds of little prints near this big drain. The kitties (or whatever made them) must have horribly muddy feet
