today I got a traffic ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian... this happened on Freeport Blvd about a mile north of its intersection with Florin Rd...
this particular crosswalk (there is no intersection) is on a very busy street and goes across 4 lanes of traffic... the speed limit on this street is 45 mph... the only signs pointing out the crosswalk to traffic are only large enough to read from about 20 yards away at best...
there were multiple cars pulled over simultaneously as I was being pulled over... there were no less than 4 cops patrolling this crosswalk at this time...
by the time I realized there was a person in the intersection I did not have even close to enough time to stop without having to lock down on my brakes and put myself and all other traffic around me in danger... according to information found on the internet it takes about 45 feet to come to a complete stop if you are traveling at 45 mph... if the crosswalk is so fucking dangerous for pedestrians that it takes no less than 4 cops to patrol it... why the fuck doesn't the city or state put up a light or something so pedestrians can cross safely??? the cost of its installation and operation would probably be much less than 4 cops salary + benefits and it would make the street safer for everyone involved... I guess this would explain why no one would respond to our 911 calls at our previous address... the city is blatantly exploiting this painfully obvious urban flaw to rape the city's residents of their money... I would much much rather pay more taxes than have to put up with complete and utter bullshit like this... this is why people hate cops...
what kind of a country do we live in where the system manipulates itself to take more from the people??? our government is so severely flawed to enable something like this to happen... and what are the people even able to do about something like this??? why are we made to feel completely powerless??? are we???
maybe we are... I just tried to locate my senators contact information (Darrell Steinberg) and he does not accept e-mails... you can leave a comment for him on his website but it is stated that they only reply to their constituents... which I doubt includes me... I would assume that the senator for the state capitol would make himself available to his electors... but that would be too much to ask...
