I don't subscribe to the bogus and debunked myth of the origin of the first American Thanksgiving. This whitewashed story purported to celebrate the survival of the Mayflower colonists over the first winter due to the help of the local natives. What it really was, was a celebration of the massacre of a native tribe. Just one of many myths about American history. Victors really do write the books.
All that being said, regardless of whether or not you're from the US or Uganda, or Australia, or Japan or wherever, we all have something to be grateful for. For me, I'm three years in remission from aggressive testicular cancer. My sister and mother are in remission going on 10 and 5 years, respectively, from BRCA1 breast cancer. My son, in particular, and the rest of my family, are all healthy and I have a brand new, healthy, five day old nephew.
So, screw myths, politics and all the negativity. Look at what you've got going for you in life and celebrate it today...and carry that with you every day.
Cheers!
