The Art of Getting Shit Done.
-by Bodlar Deathbringer
I've spent a lot of time working on this personally. For whatever reason I felt compelled to write about it here. Maybe it will help others through what has taken me years to work out.
1> Manifesting your own destiny: This is the most overlooked and hardest part of getting shit done. Without a solid foundation nothing you build is going to last. This is the foundation to getting shit done. You have to dig really deep for this one. Take the time to remove your doubts, and really build your confidence. Visualize the completed task at hand. Fully craft the images of what it will look like when your task is finished. Embrace that visualization in your minds eye any time you need a confidence boost. Keep your eye on the prize. Without this step the things you want will always elude you since your sub-conscious is not on board with the rest of your psyche.
2> Planning a course of action: This seems like the most overused, and wasteful, part of getting shit done. People love to fucking sit around and talk about how they are going to do something. Mostly because it's a ton easier than actually doing it. You 100% need a good plan, but it should be quick and easy. Break down your task until you have a batch of manageable steps. For some things this may be a short list. For larger undertakings it could be a long list with subsections and etc. This part is merely an outline, though. Things rarely go 100% according to plan and any work you put into planning can sometime be wasted when you have to change plans. Make sure you are flexible here and frequently check in with your road map to make sure you are still on course.
3> Putting in the work: This is the nitty gritty part. Some would argue this is more challenging than step 1. I feel that for some people it really can be. Without step 1, however, your work will be poorly executed. Without step 2 your work will be poorly organized. Ok manual labor time. Nike is a big lame ass corporation, but I do actually like their slogan. I slightly modify it, though. Just Fucking Do It! For bigger projects this can especially be a big challenge. For motivation frequently go back to your visualization from step 1. Just remember, anything worth doing is going to be a ton of hard work. The sooner you accept that premise the easier it will be to push through it all. Sometimes sharing your plan with a friend can help too. If they are a really good friend they will be able to help motivate you to stay on track too. If things change drastically don't forget to revisit the planning stage to tweak or update things. Keep kickin ass and eventually you will achieve your goal!
4> Reward time: Revel in your accomplishment. Enjoy yourself and share your excitement with others. Just beware that most projects require maintenance, like most things in life. Don't let all your work go to waste this late in the game and keep things current!
Hope this helps some of you. I know that writing things down for myself helps a ton. So thank you all for the opportunity!
Cheers
